whoa! ellyn burstyn gets christopher lee's role! this is gonna be good.
I was kind of upset when I read this and I like Neil Labute, but I really don't see the point. The original is just so perfectly weird and the soundtrack can't be improved. Man, I thought it sucked that Bad News Bears was remade until I read this. I guess I'll go see it, but It's Lord Summerisle, not Lady Summerisle, and there's no way the graveyard orgy or the Britt Ecklund dance scene can be as awesome. Yeah, I told my friend JF and he had a similar reaction to me about it. I tried to comment on this last eve when I was really stewing about it, but blogger was down. outrage. I'll probably go see it out of curiosity, but that still doesn't mean that it's not an outrage.
i've only seen a quarter of the original, but i'll have to see this... i do like neil labute and i'm intrigued by his take on the film.
(oh shit; korean cuisine makes its debut in kitchen stadium tonight on "iron chef"! gotta run.)
I've discussed the film with several big fans of the original who seem to possess the idea, like myself, that he has nothing to gain by remaking the film, nor is there any way it could be as good. first the bad news bears is remadeand now this. only jaws and caddyshack remain before all my favorite films are subject to sub-amazing adaptations.
jesus christ. it just gets worse. to add insult to a maiming, she was in the crucible, for cryin' out loud. who's next. daniel day lewis?
