it started with david la chappelle's burger king commercial.
six months ago, i was regularly attending "drinking liberally" at rudy's in hell's kitchen. rudy's biggest claim to fame is the fact that they have free hot dogs, of which i didn't partake.
while frequenting "dl", i met a guy who was crazy nice, good-lookin', funny as all get out, and super-duper politically active. he started an "anti-bush travel agency" in 2004, for crying out loud; it's objective was to get volunteers into swing states to help get out the vote for kerry.
anyhow, i stopped going to "dl" and though he and i emailed a few times, things never took off and he just became a memory.
fast forward six months: last night, i attended a small katrina benefit in red hook (which, if you don't know, is in the fuckin' middle of nowhere) and who happened to be there? mr. politico. turns out, he's roommates with the guy who owns the bar, who also happened to live in athens and whose ex-girlfriend went to high school with my ex-roommate.
i mean, new york is small.
so, now we're emailing again.
i love serendipity.
