you can't fire me
Today is the big day.
So, I did it. Today I put my notice in -- albeit my three month notice, but my notice nonetheless.
Because we schedule patients' sessions up to three months in advance, it made sense to bring the fact that I'm leaving to my supervisor's attention this early. Only one other co-worker has left since the department's inception, and he gave three months' notice, as well.
(Well, there was that one girl with the bad hair and a nodding problem who stayed for a week and then left after she convinced herself that she was overqualified and that there was going to be absolutely no room for growth here, but I digress...)
My closest friend here has already given her notice that she's leaving in January. I guess that's how we roll.
The supervisor was actually so thankful that I'd be staying until late November and even told me that I could start transitioning into a role with more responsibility on my way out (i.e., developing an official training program, hiring an intern, etc.), which will look great on my resume. She was actually very supportive. What a relief.
Three months and counting.

Wow! Did you get a new job?
Not yet, Laura. I'm ramping up my job search in about a month or so, because my lease ends late November and I can't leave until then.
If I start looking for something now and get it (like I did with the last job I interviewed for), it would be really disruptive... so, fingers crossed I'll find something, but I'm not worried.
