Thanksgiving is a week away and for people who are passionate about food (ahem, myself), it's an exciting time. My holiday will be even more special this year, as I'll be able to spend it with my dad (whom I haven't seen since our trip to Kiawah last summer) and with special-guest-from-the-ATL, SM! She and I have been discussing what we'll contribute to the dinner table.
We're currently batting around the idea of making Brussels sprouts, shredded and tossed with caramelized onions and hazelnuts (a KM family recipe -- thank you, KM). We're also thinking an apple pie, perhaps -- and I think I'd like to make an upside-down cranberry pear cake. (I'm a sucker for the thrill of turning out a cake onto a platter and the potential disaster that can occur -- but never has.) Finally, we're in the mood for a dish that incorporates roasted apples, candied walnuts, and some type of squash (butternut, acorn, pumpkin).
Any ideas? And what will you be eating?
