With the move comes not only having to find a new job and a new apartment, but a new car, as well.
I've had three cars in the last ten years (I waited to get my license at age 19 for a myriad of reasons).
My first was Nigel, the 1992 Ford Escort. Sold that one to a sweet young couple in Winder, Georgia after it gave me one too many headaches.
Next up was Bessie, a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder, in whom I learned to drive stick. (Thank you, Coley, for putting up with me at that time.) Bessie died on me and I donated the parts to the Potter's House.
Finally, it was the Ladybug, a bright-red VW Golf -- sold to me by Kate Moss when she needed loot to move to New York. I sold that one to a kid in Toms River, New Jersey when I needed loot to move to New York. So it goes.
So, now I'm in the market again.
Any suggestions? Anyone know of someone who will want to sell their car come December?
(I know, I know, look for something with good gas mileage...)

i bought a brand new toyota matrix almost a year ago and i absolutely LOVE it. everyone who gets in it loves it - it has SO much space but its mileage is nearly as good as a civic. i highly, highly recommend it - i take lil'scratch everywhere and am always comfortable. anyway, check it out!
Three words: 2007 Ford Mustang.
Give low mileage a big ol' middle finger.
I meant to say "good" mileage
Kennie Bloggins recommended that ol' classic, the Chevy Nova.
What do you guys think about the Ford Focus?
mazda 3 or honda civic.
I do like the Civic... and I'll look into the Matrix. The Focus, too, I think, 'cause they're cute. Not feeling the Mustang, though, IGG.

That's what I'm talkin' about.
the mazda 3 (which i have and LOVE) uses the same chassis as the focus (and the volvo s40) but it assembled in japan (and the cahssis is assembled in europe) so it has none of the ford relaibility problems. ford has a LOT of reliability issues - just ask crog. the mazda3 is tons more fun to drive than the focus is, as is the civic. the civic has a much less powerful engine but handles really well and gets amazing mileage - i drove my sister's civic for a year. and with a honda, you dont have to ever worry about things falling apart - and you can get a fairly new, low milaege used civic for around $11k. a new mazda3 starts around $15k. but never mind this ... GOOOOO DAAAWWWGS!!!!
if you don't get that 'lac you betta get a candy chevy on some large pies.
Mazdas and Fords mostly use the same parts these days, but if you have to buy a Mazda part, you're fucked. Used Hondas are a fuckjob on your wallet, and nobody wants to be driving a Civic when they are 40 years old. However, I really wonder about the longevity of Japanese cars vs. American cars. It's a fucking rare moment when I see a pre-1980s Japanese car on the road, but it's pretty often that I see 1960s American muscle. Also, American cars back then looked far better than Japanese cars. Also, American cars are pretty good if you take care of them. I had a really awesome Cavalier, which is perceived to be a shitty car. I will say this, though. I wouldn't really bother with a Focus. Also, if you don't have to drive a lot, you can get a way better car as a lease. I mean, you can drive a very good car for under $300 a month, if you find a good deal. You never really own a car until you rag that shit out, anyway. My vote is a Dodge charger.
also, ford owns mazda, or at least that's what I've been told. I do like my Tribute a great deal.
Wait, so you're pro-American car... but anti-Focus? But the Focus is so cute!
