gas, food, lodging

ooh, boy -- last night, charlie went all ape-shit and tried to steal claire's baby and baptize him in the ocean!

("lost" -- best show ever, especially because i can watch it on my laptop thanks to itunes. or does this just render me thoroughly pathetic?)

so, yeah, folks... didn't take the job offer. couldn't, in good faith, screw over my current employer by not giving two weeks' notice, AND buy a car, AND find a roommate for my place in nyc, AND find a place in atlanta, AND maintain some semblance of sanity. on track to move at the end of november when our sublease runs out. i hope to find something in my field at that time, but even if i end up selling weight-loss packages to middle-aged women at jenny craig, i think i'll be less stressed.

or maybe not.

requisite foodie news...

tomorrow i'm attending a reading at the 92nd street y -- jane & michael stern and ruth reichl are speaking and i can't wait.

good book: "heat" by bill buford. makes me want to save up for the tasting menu with wine pairings at babbo... duck, venison, and all.

highlight meals in the last week and a half include seafood creole and seared tuna steak salad in kiawah, hibachi shrimp in atlanta, "pitza" and mediterranean salad galore in the east village with kb, scarny, and kate moss... and i must admit that did enjoy the company over some sweetwater i.p.a., hummus, and pita bread in decatur.

so, anyhow, back to the grind in nyc and you know what? it's not so bad.
